The Park at Emancipation is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure our community hub is inclusive, both in person and online.

We believe that the heart of the Third Ward belongs to everyone. We strive to provide a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance or ability. We aim to adhere as closely as possible to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1, Level AA), published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

2. Physical Site Accessibility

The Park at Emancipation is designed as a "Third Place" for all neighbors. Our physical site at 2408 Eagle Street includes:

  • Accessible Grounds: Level surfaces for easy navigation between food truck pads and seating areas.

  • Inclusive Seating: Strategic placement of community seating to accommodate mobility devices.

  • Safety & Navigation: Clear pedestrian pathways and lighting for visibility and ease of access.

3. Digital Measures

To ensure accessibility on our digital platform, we take the following measures:

  • Alt Text: We aim to provide descriptive alternative text for all meaningful images.

  • Readable Fonts: We use high-contrast colors and legible font sizes (including Forum for headers and Montserrat/Lato for body text) to assist users with visual impairments.

  • Wix Accessibility Tools: We utilize the Wix Accessibility Wizard to scan and remediate common digital barriers.
